Day and night the telescreens bruised your ears with statistics proving that people today had more food, more clothes, better houses, better recreations – that they lived longer, worked shorter hours, were bigger, healthier, stronger, happier, more intelligent, better educatd than the people of fifty years ago.
I hear that chocolate rations have also been increased to 15 grams!
How fortunate we are to live under such a benevolent rule.
Somehow people are getting smarter by the hour. Is it the blue smarties in the tubes that are doing it?
I seem to remember that Teresa Gorman once suggested that the cure for the “Mania for Credentials” could be resolved by simply giving out exam passes to anyone who asked for them.
